9 Journalling Prompts to Start 2023

The New Year is a great time to use the fresh momentum of a new year to reflect, and create some new intentions. Intentions can be so powerful, because they set the direction, tone and vision for where you are headed.

If intentions are approached practically, by taking small incremental steps towards the goals, its amazing what you can achieve within a year. With these intentions, be realistic. That way, you’ll be more likely to stick with them when motivation is low.

“Many years ago, Bill Gates is credited with the saying “people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in 10 years.” I’ve always used that as a tool to motivate me to work hard knowing that big accomplishments take time.

Here are a few prompts to get you started:

  1. What am I most proud of achieving in 2022? What did I learn about myself? How can I carry these lessons forward into 2023?

  2. What failure did I learn the most from during 2022? How can I carry this lesson forward to 2023?

  3. When did I show myself the most love and grace during 2022? How can I continue to love myself and show grace in 2023?

  4. When am I my most authentic? What am I doing and where am I? How can I do more of this in 2023?

  5. If I had one entire week with an entirely clear calendar (no commitments, responsibilities, no work) what would I do? What would bring me the most joy every day? How can I have more of that?

  6. If I could achieve ONE thing this year in my career, what would that be?

  7. If I could achieve ONE thing this year for my health, what would that be?

  8. If I could achieve ONE thing for my relationships this year, what would that be?

  9. If I could achieve one personal goal, what would that be?
