This recipe is originally from my cookbook, The Raw Kitchen, published back in April 2016. This recipe is such a hit for any crowd. Its a delicious, lush, indulgent hot chocolate - you would never know it as the healthy edition. Over the years I have edited and amended the recipe and updated it for you here. It is the perfect balance of spicy, warming, chocolatey, but not too sweet.
1⁄3 cup (55g/2oz) raw cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
3 cups (750ml) nut milk (almond, coconut, oat etc)
1 Tbsp lucuma powder (optional)
1 tsp reishi (optional)
1 tsp maca powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1⁄2 tsp himalayan sea salt
1 tsp vanilla bean powder
grated nutmeg or dried chilli, to serve
Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a saucepan and warm on the stove top or in a dehydrator, if preferred. Serve with a pinch of grated nutmeg or dried chilli on top.
